Darwen based Warehousing & Distribution company, Kenleys has achieved the internationally recognised ISO9001, establishing it as one of the leaders in its field.

This independent assessment was conducted by the leading Certification Body, the British Assessment Bureau and demonstrates Kenleys commitment to customer service and quality in delivery.

Kenleys has now earned the right to display the coveted British Assessment Bureau ISO 9001 certification mark to demonstrate its conformance to the standard.

ISO 9001 was first introduced in 1987 and requires organisations to demonstrate that they do what they say they do and that they have a quality management system in place to ensure consistency and improvement; leading to high levels of performance and customer satisfaction. Certified organisations are committed to continuous improvement and are assessed annually to ensure progress is being maintained.

Kenleys has shown that it has good service, reliability and process controls which mean lower costs for its customers! Kenleys Transport Manager, Campbell Elliott said, “We are particularly pleased to have achieved  ISO9001 certification as it underlines our commitment to our customers and our focus on quality.  Not many customers get to see their suppliers’ ‘back-office’ activities.  This recognition demonstrates we can provide a quality solution from quotation to delivery.”

The benefits of registration to the ISO9001 standard include:-

 §  Streamlining an organisation’s procedures.

§  Bringing consistency to an organisation’s service delivery.

§  Reducing cost and rework.

§  Improving an organisation’s management practices.

§  Enhanced status.

§  Competitive advantage.

From our humble beginnings in the mid 70’s Kenleys have steadily grown and now have over 150000sq ft. of warehousing space holding 15000+ pallets for various major accounts.

We have 65 full time staff that are backed in peaks + holidays by agency staff.

We have 40+ vehicles ranging from small urban vans to a 15 strong fleet of articulated trucks 35 trailers.

The core of the business now is the receipt / warehousing of product from mainly overseas before being picked / reworked if needed + then onward distribution to mainly the UK High Street.

I am suitably aided by Lesley Walker (our founder’s daughter) as financial director of the company.

We then have very dedicated managers in each department who all have substantial service within the company.

Taking the company forward there is a window for growth in a service industry that we are now already established in. We don’t have a vision to what level we want to grow but are judging the need for growth against the growth + strength of the trading companies we are contracted to.

If there is a potential to grow alongside any new business with a strong trading partner then this is something that KWD are very much interested in.
